Why compression socks

Compression level and benefits

Each pair of Supporo compression stockings is defined by its level of compression measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg).

We have made sure to divide our products into four levels of compression that adapt to the specific needs of each user.

Compression socks are designed for:

  • Individuals who are required to stand or sit for extended periods of time;
  • Individuals who experience leg fatigue or swollen feet towards the end of the day;
  • Travelers including airline staff;
  • Pregnant women;
  • Seniors;
  • Those with severe cases of varicose veins or edema, or who have undergone major vein-related surgery.
  • For sport and leisure activities, to improve performance, reduce impact and speed up recovery.

Preventing and Treating Venous Insufficiency

Light (6-16 mmHg) and moderate levels of compression (15-20mmHg) are normally recommended as means to prevent leg swelling and other health problems caused by venous insufficiency. Venous insufficiency is a circulatory disorder in the veins of the legs, making it difficult for blood to return to the heart. People suffer the risk of venous insufficiency due to genetics, age, obesity, lack of exercise, pregnancy, or hormonal treatments.

High levels of compression (20 mmHg and above) are used to treat severe cases of venous insufficiency and its symptoms. Symptoms of this condition include heavy legs, varicose veins, restless leg syndrome, and ulcers of wounds. It is best to consult a health professional in order to determine the level of support you require based on your medical condition and needs.

Which compression level should you choose?

Ideal for travelers, pregnant women, people who must stand for long periods of time and those who have tired legs at the end of the day. They are designed to improve circulation, while relieving tired legs, preventing minor swelling in ankles and legs and reducing the risk of minor varicose veins.
Perfect for pregnant women and travelers and for people with varicose veins or moderate swelling in the legs. They are also prescribed for patients who have undergone minor vein surgeries.
Compression stockings with a pressure level of more than 20mmHg are used in severe cases of varicose veins and swelling in the legs, postthrombotic syndrome, postsclerotherapy cases and other major vein surgeries. Please consult a healthcare professional for advice if you believe you require this level of compression.
These stockings are intended for people with more serious health issues requiring regular medical follow-up. Medical stockings require a more accurate adjustment process that involves measuring the ankle, mid-calf, knee and thigh to determine the product best suited to the needs of each patient.
